U.S. Green Building Council Launches Education Provider Program

December 15, 2007

On Dec. 12, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced the launch of the Education Provider Program (EPP), which will result in an extensive "course catalog" of top-tier green building educational programs, peer-reviewed and approved by USGBC.

"The Education Provider Program is an extension of the council's mission and our ongoing efforts to broaden and deepen educational offerings for green building professionals," said Peter Templeton, senior vice president of Education and Research for USGBC. "The program will review and promote top-quality, innovative courses that will expand green building knowledge and capacity across all sectors of the industry."

USGBC Education Providers are USGBC members, chapters and affiliates that demonstrate an organization-wide commitment to green building and the development of high-quality educational courses.

Courses approved by the EPP are currently listed on the USGBC Web site (http://www.usgbc.org/epp) and will soon be incorporated into the newly-launched Greenbuild365 Web site, USGBC's online portal for green building education (http://www.greenbuild365.org). Will EPA be Forced to Issue a Climate Change Endangerment Finding?

On April 2, 2008, exactly one year after the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Massachusetts v. EPA, 12 states, supported by an additional five states as amicus curiae, as well as the District of Columbia, the cities of New York and Baltimore, and a number of environmental organizations, filed a petition for mandamus with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit seeking to compel the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to act on remand within 60 days.
