Institute Names Energy and Environment Winners

The Aspen Institute tapped the people and organizations making the biggest strides as the winners of the first annual Energy and Environment Awards.

They are SolarCity for Corporate Energy Generation, Serious Materials for Corporate Energy Conservation, California Energy Office's Million Solar Roofs Initiative for Innovation in Government, the California Cars Initiative for Innovation in a Non-governmental Organization, and Amory Lovins, Rocky Mountain Institute for Individual Thought Leadership.

Meant to celebrate success and provoke conversations, the awards are part of the Aspen Environment Forum, which was held March 26-30 in Colorado.

Will EPA be Forced to Issue a Climate Change Endangerment Finding?

On April 2, 2008, exactly one year after the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Massachusetts v. EPA, 12 states, supported by an additional five states as amicus curiae, as well as the District of Columbia, the cities of New York and Baltimore, and a number of environmental organizations, filed a petition for mandamus with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit seeking to compel the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to act on remand within 60 days.
